Fuller lips can be achieved by several methods. Firstly, surgically - by surgically enlarging the red lip, by inserting a silicone implant or minimally invasively, using an injectable hyaluronic acid filler. Are you a good candidate for lip augmentation? Do you want fuller, more luscious lips?
Lip augmentation with fillers is a popular and frequently used method. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin, so it is not a foreign substance to the body and is very well accepted. This minimizes potential complications and allergic reactions. The lips are not only beautifully full and symmetrical after application, but also very well hydrated and fresh. The advantage is that the hyaluronic acid is gradually absorbed and can be replenished or dissolved if necessary.
Hyaluronic acid:
Thanks to the application of hyaluronic acid-based injectable fillers, lip augmentation is possible without surgery. The procedure is almost painless and local anaesthetic in the form of ice cooling or numbing lidocaine cream adds to the comfort. The anaestetic cream is applied 10-20 minutes before the application. Injectable fillers that already contain lidocaine can also be used. The advantage is that the painlessness persists after the procedure. The entire treatment takes only a few minutes and the result is immediately visible.
What can hyaluronic acid do for your lips?
Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid benefits:
Together with the doctor, you will discuss your idea of the final shape and volume of the lips. You will be advised to stop taking blood-thinning medications approximately one week before the procedure. On the day of the consultation, the procedure itself can be performed.
First, a local anaesthetic in the form of a numbing cream is applied to the lips. Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Very thin cannulas or needles are used for the application. Even without numbing cream, the injection results in uncomfortable pressure rather than pain.
The hyaluronic acid is applied gradually and it is always better to give less, wait a few days and possibly prick than to achieve an unsightly and exaggerated result.
Swelling after hyaluronic acid application is quite common. Small bruises and red spots may also appear. All should gradually subside within 3-5 days. Swelling after lip augmentation usually subsides within a week./p>
The skin can be carefully cooled - I always put ice or a cold pack over a handkerchief, towel or other cloth to prevent over-freezing.
You should not expose your lips to extreme temperatures for 7 days, i.e. avoid sunbathing, solarium, sauna, hardening, cryochamber or being in freezing weather.
It is also advisable to avoid major physical exertion for 7 days. Swelling after lip augmentation sticks around longer if you bend over too much, run or play sports, so rest is desirable.
Partially, the lip enlargement is visible immediately, for a final evaluation it is necessary to wait until the swelling has gone down. The final shape of the lips will appear approximately on the 7th day after application.
The effect of lip augmentation with injectable fillers is not permanent. The absorption of hyaluronic acid varies from person to person. For lip augmentation, the acid used is un-screened, which ensures that the filler lasts around 3-9 months¹.
What affects the duration of the result?
Injectable lip fillers with hyaluronic acid are not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women, for clients with blood clotting disorders, when taking blood thinning medications and, of course, if the client suffers from skin diseases (herpes, acne) in close proximity to the lips.
Be sure to keep in mind that it is not possible to open the lips fully for several days after application. It is not recommended to visit dental hygiene and dentistry, as well as presenters, singers and other professions where more articulation is needed, need a few days to recover and the swelling to fade.
The Russian lips technique uses vertical injections of hyaluronic acid to shape the lips into a "heart", a very prominent upper and lower lip in the middle part of the lips. The result is not "duck lips", but exaggeratedly full "pouty" lips in the middle part.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia (the application itself). Own fat is a substance inherent to the body, therefore it is well accepted. It can be used to address lip asymmetry, contours and volume. The fat is obtained by liposuction and then treated in a special device so that it can be used as a filler material. It is applied using thin cannulas or needles.
Lipofilling is not performed at any of our clinics due to the uneven absorption of fat and the need for frequent reoperations due to the asymmetrical result.
Lip lift (V-Y plastic surgery) is a minor surgical procedure that reduces the distance between the nose and upper lip. This makes the red part of the upper lip larger. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The scar is directly in the fold of the nose from below, so it is not visible. The whole operation takes about 45 minutes. The final result can be seen after 2-3 weeks, when the bruising and swelling disappear. It is necessary to cover the wound with a sterile plaster for several days.
Lip lift is always performed at the clinic in Prague and Karlovy Vary by a plastic surgeon prim. MUDr. Dušan Záruba.
PermaLip is not performed in our clinics due to the decertification in the EU. However, with MUDr. Tomáš Kupka, it is possible to arrange for the removal of the implant, or correction of the position (creation of a new space and reinsertion).
This soft silicone implant is designed to follow the shape of the lips. It is inserted from small holes in the corners. Everything takes about 30 minutes, the implant does not grow back.
The wounds need to be covered with sterile plasters for a few days, taking care not to inflame the holes. Currently, we do not perform lip augmentation with the PermaLip method at the clinic, we are focusing on lip fillers with hyaluronic acid.
The price of lip augmentation depends on the type of procedure chosen - surgical augmentation versus injectable fillers. For lip augmentation using injectable filler, the final price is highly dependent on the number of ml of hyaluronic acid filler material that needs to be used to achieve the desired result.
