With the help of a botulinum toxin preparations applied in small doses with a very thin needle into the skin, the activity of the mimic muscles is attenuated, the skin is smoothed and mimic wrinkles disappear. Botulin products can also very effectively eliminate unwanted excessive sweating, so-called hyperhidrosis.
The active substance on the neuromuscular disc, by proteolytic activity, cleaves the enzyme that is necessary for neuromuscular transmission. This limits communication between the nerve and the muscle that is controlled by the nerve. This relaxes the inappropriately contracted muscle and makes the mimic wrinkle disappear. The nerve cell (neuron) does not show any structural changes due to the effect of the botulinum product and only shows slight atrophy and slight demyelination of the axon over time. Botulo. thus acts as a neuromodulator rather than a neurotoxin.
The effect of botulinum preparations is used not only in aesthetic medicine. Their use is also beneficial in other medical disciplines, especially in neurology, where they address various muscle disorders or eliminate tics in the eye, etc., or in dentistry, where they help to eliminate bruxism (the pathological grinding of teeth).

The botulinum product is injected with a very thin needle into the skin to the sweat glands (armpits, palms, soles). The active substance surrounds the sweat glands, which become inactive for some time. This significantly reduces or even stops sweating in the treated area. The onset of action is gradual, the full effect is usually within 10 - 14 days after application.
The duration of the effect is individual, usually it is necessary to repeat the treatment 1 - 2 times a year.
